Hello, my name is Amrith Sundar Sankar and I am aspiring to become an orthopedic surgeon in the near future. I am currently a senior at Frisco Memorial High School with a deep interest in the field of medicine. As part of the ISM program offered by Frisco ISD, I have chosen to study the field of orthopedic surgery. As an aspiring orthopedic surgeon, I have already taken many steps to solidify my path to becoming a healthcare professional. I have used my Basic Life Support, Nurse Assistant, and Clinical Medical Assistant certifications to do clinical rotations at hospitals around the DFW area. In addition to performing regular duties as a nurse assistant, I have also witnessed many surgeries, such as orthopedic surgeries, take place in the operating room. I have taken and done well in various challenging courses in the math and sciences such as AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics C, Anatomy & Physiology, and Health Science Clinical, demonstrating my readiness for the rigors of college, medical school, residency, and fellowship ahead of me. Outside of school, I am involved in many activities such as taekwondo, tennis, marching band, and dance while singing, running track, and weightlifting are special hobbies that I have. In a way, these activities and hobbies have allowed me to appreciate the value of having the ability to move freely without experiencing any pain, which ultimately has motivated me to pursue orthopedic surgery. I believe that becoming an orthopedic surgeon will allow me to have the ability to bring back happiness and relief to those experiencing pain while in motion.
